Funding from Awards for All has enabled a range of organisations in the Lancaster District to co-ordinate a month of activities to remember the Holocaust in January 2013. Please join us. January 9 – 29th From Auschwitz to Ambleside – A Story of Survival
An exhibition which tells the story of the three hundred Jewish child Holocaust Survivors who came to the Lake District in 1945
Dukes Theatre Gallery, Moor Lane, Lancaster LA1 1QE
Dukes Opening Times: 10am – 8pm Monday – Saturday; 6.30 – 8pm Sunday
Please check with the Dukes ( 01524 598500) to check that the Gallery is open, as it is sometimes used for meetings and conferences
Thursday January 24th 6.30pm Candlelight Commemoration and Celebration
Memorial Gardens and Banqueting Suite Town hall Lancaster.
A candlelighting ceremony to remember those targeted during the Holocaust in the Garden of Remembrance, followed by a celebration in Lancaster Town Hall with young people from More Music and the Dukes and music by the Balkanics. All welcome.
Saturday January 26th 6-8pm Communities together – Building Bridges – Cultural Sharing and Havdalah
An opportunity to join with members of the Jewish community to mark the end of the Jewish Sabbath, the Havdalah. We will also reflect on ways we take time to rest from the demands of our daily lives according to our different cultures and traditions. Music and light refreshments will be part of this event.

Sunday 27th 2pm onwards Communities together – Building Bridges – Faithwalk
A fascinating walk through Lancaster which will explore the intolerances of the past and build bridges for the present. Co-ordinated by Robbie Smith and Stuart Langhorn from Lancaster Faithshare. The walk will include visits to the Cathedral; Mosque and Friends Meeting House; stopping at the Dukes to look at the exhibition “From Auschwitz to Ambleside” refreshments will be provided en route and Speakers will provide fascinating insights at places we visit.

Sunday 27th January 6.30pm Communities Together – Building Bridges – Priory Church
An interfaith service at the Priory Church Lancaster commemorating the Holocaust.
An address will be given by Mrs Anjum Anwar MBE, Dialogue and Development Officer at Blackburn Cathedral. All warmly welcome.
